My love of painting and drawing began as a child and has continued throughout my life. I have been influenced by many: Richard Diebenkorn, Willem de Kooning, Wolf Kahn and Elmer Bishoff, just to name a few. Subject matter often becomes secondary to the process of painting. I enjoy doing emotional, abstract land and waterscapes, figure painting, and more recently have become drawn to non-representational painting. My style is expressionistic and I use color to convey emotion.
I am very fortunate to live in the Bay Area, where there is no shortage of gorgeous scenery to inspire me. My family and I drive down the coast and take day trips to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys whenever we can. I love to paint my memories and impressions of these trips.
My current series of abstract landscapes (a few of which are featured here) have been inspired by our recent trips to the coast. I am also painting a series of women, portraying diverse women as strong, life-givers, and life-supporters.
I also do commissioned work, which keeps me pretty busy.
My paintings have been sold through local galleries and are in private collections throughout the United States.
